The CFO Position

As part of their growth, Surgical Innovations plc are seeking a commercially minded CFO, who will partner and deputise for the CEO and provide strong financial and commercial leadership across the group. This key appointment will be instrumental in leading change and offers an opportunity to facilitate the growth plans, realise the commercial potential of the business and increase shareholder value.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the finance and IT team to partner with and support the business through its future growth.
  • Support the CEO, providing leadership across the business to aid business growth and improved performance.  
  • Develop and deliver financial strategy aligned to business objectives and to support profitable ambitious growth plans.
  • Play a key role in the formulation of the business's strategy, identifying future growth opportunities.
  • Create, align, and lead the finance strategy.
  • Provide robust, insightful reporting and guidance to support the Board and management make informed decisions.
  • Deliver continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives to optimise processes, enhancing finance and IT business partnering services to the group.
  • Lead, develop, coach and inspire the finance team to be a value add, integrated business partner to all operations.
  • Manage the monthly reporting and statutory reporting cycle, quarterly forecasting and budgeting process.
  • Manage the P&L, balance sheet and cashflow, ensuring appropriate controls.
  • Finance lead on M&A projects globally.
  • Oversee and optimise the company’s financial systems (Syspro ERP) to develop higher quality, more insightful reporting.   
  • Provide sound financial support and insights to enable the Board to make critical business decisions.
  • Accountable for the annual audit, liaising with the Audit Committee and external auditors. 
  • Produce and deliver interim and annual reports and statutory financial reporting.
  • Represent the organisation to the investor community and build strong external relationships.
  • Keep abreast of key legislation, regulatory and governance issues across the global regions.
  • Ensure effective risk management.

Candidate Profile

Candidates will have experience of leading a finance team at a senior level and being part of a senior leadership team, working in partnership with a CEO or equivalent. The successful individual will have a blend of the following experience:

  • A qualified accountant with excellent financial management and technical acumen as well as a strategic, forward-looking mindset.
  • A manufacturing and/or healthcare background with an understanding of complex costing, pricing, and inventory strategies.
  • International experience is beneficial, but not essential.
  • Experience of successfully delivering change and transformation in a fast paced, competitive, and growing organisation.
  • Proven ability to influence, motivate and negotiate across different stakeholder groups,
  • Ability to gain buy-in, and drive collaboration.
  • An awareness of the latest developments in technology and innovation as an enabler to growth.
  • In depth knowledge of statutory requirements, procedures and regulatory requirements relating to manufacturing.
  • A robust understanding of, and pragmatic approach to, risk management.
  • Exposure to investors would be helpful.

This a key leadership role and visibility across at the Leeds site for a minimum of 3 days per week is important.

As part of their engagement strategy, the company operate a 9 day fortnight policy.
