For over 30 years Surgical Innovations Group have been at the forefront of Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS). Founded by a pioneering Laparoscopic Surgeon, Professor Mike McMahon and innovative engineer Pete Moran, the organisation was formed to advance MIS surgery.

Unlike many providers within the industry, their innovative, patented products are partly re-usable and are a highly sustainable and high-quality choice for surgeons. Selling across a range of international markets including the UK, US, Japan and India (which represents a significant opportunity) and with a strong R&D pipeline they are well placed to deliver excellent growth over the next 5 years.

From its UK head office and manufacturing facility in Leeds, the business is listed on AIM, and through its team of 85 people, delivers revenues of c£12 million.

Over the past year, Surgical Innovations plc have bought together a new Board with the experience, ambition and vision to transform the organisation. They have evolved a strategy to grow organically, through M&A and new licensing agreements, extending the portfolio and growing both domestic and international markets. They are part way through a reorganisation that involves delivering operational efficiencies and positioning the business with the right focus to grow. There is a significant market opportunity to build on the strong sustainability story and environmental impact of the Resposable® technology, and a strategy has been created to reach £30 million by 2030.

The Surgical Innovations Brand

The SI Brand is engaged in the research, development, manufacture, and distribution of Resposable® medical devices.

A comprehensive range for General & Minimally Invasive Surgery, the portfolio includes a range of pioneering devices such as YelloPort Elite™ and YelloPort+™, a hybrid Laparoscopic Port Access System concept delivering tangible environmental and financial value to healthcare providers, Logic™ a fully reusable Laparoscopic Instrumentation range, FastClamp™ a fully reusable Laparoscopic Clamping System and PretzelFlex™ the world’s first pretzel shaped organ and tissue Retractor.

OEM

This includes research, development, manufacture, and distribution of minimally invasive devices for third party medical device companies through their own label or co-branding. It also includes research, development, manufacture, and sale of minimally invasive technology products for precision engineering applications.

Distribution

The distribution of the specialist medical products for use in General and Minimally Invasive Surgery is split across two brands and channels. The UK subsidiary, Elemental Healthcare Ltd, acquired by the Group in 2017 is the UK business and brand for distribution into the UK healthcare market. Internationally, Surgical Innovations is the brand adopted for distribution (all markets outside the UK).
